Proliferate

In these drawings, I used improvised mark-making on a minuscule scale, allowing each composition to evolve organically and without premeditation. Working with a heightened immediacy of decision-making, I avoided planning or mapping in advance. Instead, the drawings grew outward from several centralised points—mirroring the way bacterial colonies proliferate when viewed under a microscope.

This method allowed for a balance between control and unpredictability, structure and emergence. The dense accumulation of tiny marks echoes biological growth patterns, suggesting systems that evolve according to their own internal logic. These works continue my broader interest in how complexity arises from simple elements, and how forms at microscopic scales can evoke larger, universal structures.
