Subsurface Travelogue
2020 - 2021
These forms are drawn from my ceramic artefact works, which I conceive as relics of a future civilisation, buried by time and returned to us as archaeological echoes. In this series, they are reimagined as if captured by scanning instruments stretched to the very edge of their capability, producing visual data that appears precise but remains ultimately inconclusive.
The tension between clarity and ambiguity reflects the limitations of our tools, and of our understanding, in the search for origins. The work navigates the gaps between presence and absence, signal and noise suggesting that even the most advanced imaging technologies can only gesture toward what lies beneath.
