The Interaction of Galaxies
First exhibited - …and to that sea return
September 2010
In this series, I continued my exploration of the relationship between the minuscule and the vast by focusing on a single, recurring element: the dot made with a 0.13mm Rotring pen, a tool I frequently use in my ink drawings. Working in collaboration with Lightfarm, I scanned individual dots at extremely high resolution and printed them at a dramatically enlarged scale onto drawing paper.
I then intervened in these prints by adding small, precise sections of dotted designs referencing measurement graphs, scientific notations, and technical diagrams. Through this process, the tiny ink dot acquired an uncanny dimensionality, taking on the appearance of swirling galaxies suspended in space. The result is a series of images that collapses scale and time, transforming the smallest mark into a vast, cosmological field.
