Mesh
First exhibited - No Signal
November 2018
In this series, I explored the visual language of carbon fibre and nano-mesh structures, interpreting them through dense, linear scribbles. Each drawing is governed by a set of self-imposed rules that guide the mark-making within different sections of the composition. In some areas, the scribbles are free and gestural; in others, they follow a more rigid, gridded trajectory. This contrast generates subtle structural rhythms, with interruptions and gaps suggesting pores, fractures, or faults within a molecular framework.
The circular format of each work evokes the view through a microscope, framing the image as a magnified fragment of a larger, unseen whole.
